Dr. Safaa Mahmoud Issa Abdou is a Fulbrighter who earned a Fulbright Post Doctoral Fellowship to perform Research work on “Accessible, Affordable Housing for Physically Disabled Individuals and its application to Egypt”. The Post Doctoral Program was divided between SUNY at Buffalo, summer and fall 1994, and The Center for Accessible Housing in Raleigh, North Carolina State University, summer 1993.Dr. Safaa got her pH. D. 1991 from Cairo University, her Master’s 1988 from Cairo University, and her field of specialization is “Preparing the built Environment for the Physically Disabled Individuals”.She has, also, a Diploma 1986 in the Philosophy of Design form Cairo University, besides Master’s Courses on Low Cost Housing and Application of Computer in Architecture from Florida A & M University, Tallahassee, Florida, 1982-1983. Dr. Safaa got her Bachelor Degree 1972 in Architecture from Cairo University.
Dr. Safaa Issa Abdou is the pioneer who started studying the needs of Disabled Individuals in the built environment from an architects point of view in the first Master`s Degree at Cairo University on " Barrier Free Design Additional Dimension to space Design to provide Accessibility for Physically Disabled Individuals 1988 and the Ph.D. on " Psychological Rehabilitation of Physically Disabled Individuals through Barrier Free Design, 1991.

& was appointed as a consultant in architecture for housing & research in environ.4 Disabled
