Sonali is a co-founder of Morphogenesis, which is an award winning internationally recognized design practice engaging in a critical dialogue towards bridging the boundaries of art, architecture, urbanism and environmental design in India. It is currently a conglomerate of architects, interior designers, urbanists and environmentalists and is based out of New Delhi. The Morphogenesis approach to creativity is inspired by the evolutionary processes in nature to create built form which is optimized for the built environment and the community. Design is viewed as a result of different stimuli, ranging from climatic conditions, urban fabric, local traditions, and human activity. Graduated from the Architectural Association, London with a graduate diploma in Housing and a second graduate diploma in Graduate Design(Now design Research lab), Sonali has been a director in the practice since 1996. Her experience and expertise in Architectural and Interior design has been recognized by way of numerous awards and accolades including the YFLO Woman Achiever of the Year Award in 2006, recognition as one of the 10 leading women architects in India by A+D 2007 and India Today magazine features her as pre-eminent Indian woman architect.
The work of the practice has won several awards nationally and internationally including The World Architecture Festival Award for the Best Learning Building, The Cityscape India Real Estate Awards for the Best Master-planning and Urban Design, The Architectural Review Cityscape Awards in the Residential (Built) and the Environment category and the JIIA Award for excellence in architecture.
