Seda Yöntem (B.Sc. and M.Arch) is an architect and sustainable design expert with more than 19 years of professional experience in applied architecture and project management with the focus on energy-efficient and environmentally friendly design. As the founder and manager of the Sustainable Architecture group of Ekodenge, she has lead and contributed as a technical expert to high end projects including; development of urban modelling software and services, high performance building design projects from conceptual design to the preparation of tender documents, research and innovation projects funded by EU, UNDP and WB, major wildlife parks around the world, awards in national architectural and urban design competitions and sustainability consultancy. Her work experience spans several international collaborations and projects in the EU, China, Vietnam and Azerbaijan. She has also worked as a visiting lecturer at universities.
Notable projects she has lead the Ekodenge architecture team include an adaptation of the integrated building design approach to Turkish market conditions through the design and procurement of two energy-efficient public buildings: a sustainable school campus of the Ministry of National Education and the first integrated design high performance public building of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization in Ankara, both established through detailed building models. She has also been the lead designer of a LEED GOLD candidate library building for Hacettepe University in Ankara and a Zoological Park and Research Center in Azerbaijan. She has contributed as the senior architect to European Union funded projects about sustainable architecture and energy efficient retrofitting, including A2PBEER and BRASEAR projects.
As a sustainability expert, she has given lectures on building energy efficiency assessment at governmental bodies had been an active contributor to the of the environmentally friendly architecture workgroup of Turkish Chamber of Architects and a member of CEDBIK (Turkish Green Building Council). She has sound knowledge on LEED and BREEAM Green Building Certification requirements and is a user of BEP-TR energy efficiency assessment tool. The team led by her has adopted Building Information Modelling (BIM) practices throughout the whole design lifecycle of their buildings.
She is currently living and working in Ekodenge branch office in London.
