Through architecture, it is possible to represent many things about a culture.
Each culture has its own pattern of knowledge, beliefs, artistic sensibilities, and behavior that depends upon the capacity for symbolic thought and social learning. Each culture has its set of shared attitudes, values, goals and practices; when one combines several cultures within one area, problems arise. It is the the process of solving these problems creatively and open-minded that allows for the possibility of good architecture and a new learning experience.
As designers, as architects, we can incorporate within these solutions our own culture and values, create a sort of melting pot within the design world. Because, through the arts, people of all ages, interests, and ethnicity come together in ways that stimulate lifelong learning and community interraction. Thus, linking culture to education, education to a dream, a dream to a reality.
Architecture is more than just designs, buildings, and materials. It is a definition of who we are and who we want to be. It is an expression of feeling, of purpose, and of culture--each unique in its own sense.
