Daniel E. Williams is a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects and an internationally recognized consultant in sustainable design that connect issues in economic development, transportation, agriculture, education and natural resource protection impacted by climate change. His projects range in scale from the design of a 2400 square mile urban and regional watershed to educational facilities for physically challenged children.

He chaired the Task Force on the Environment and Energy for CNU and chaired the National Committee on the Environment for the AIA. He was 2006 national chair for the AIA Task Force on Sustainability - Environment & Energy and served on the national advisory council for the US EPA.

His work on regional carrying capacity won the 1999 and the 2000 National Honor Award for Urban and Regional Design from the American Institute of Architects and the Catherine Brown Award for Urban Design in the American Landscape in 1999. His book, Sustainable Design: Ecology / Architecture / Planning was published by Wiley & Sons in 2007. He presently working on a book titled Water + Design.
