Dr. Anurag Varma is an academician, researcher, consultant and practicing architect with more than 25 years of rich professional experience. Currently a Professor in School of Architecture and Planning at Apeejay Institute of Technology, G.Noida, he is a consulting expert to various government and private organizations. His professional expertise includes spatial planning, urbanism and architecture design of buildings, and projects’ experience include spatial planning of Greenfield hill-settlements at Bhutan and India. His research interests include sacred cultural heritage in its intersection with urban planning of pilgrimage towns, heritage conservation and contemporary urban developments. As Visiting Professor at Institutions, his studios focus on distinctive contexts to address context-responsive spatial design. A qualified Conservation Architect with post-graduation from School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi, he did his Bachelor of Architecture from Government College of Architecture, Lucknow and Doctoral research at TERI University, Delhi. His doctoral research focuses on synergies between culture, urbanism and sustainability issues at pilgrimage towns.
