Born in 1957 in Ankara. After receiving her B. Arch from Middle East Technical University she completed her graduate studies in anthropology at the University of Florida. Currently she teaches at the Department of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture in Bilkent University. Her academic interests include topics at the cross section of architecture and anthropology in addition to basic design education, ethnographic research, gender studies, cultural studies, advocacy anthropology and Romani Studies.
