José Luis Bahamonde Barría is a Chilean architect based in northern Chile whose work focuses on public architecture, cultural heritage, and community infrastructure in desert territories. He graduated from the Universidad de Concepción and holds a Master’s degree in Hospital Architecture from the Universidad Católica de Murcia, Spain.

His professional practice combines architectural design, adaptive reuse, and research linked to public health infrastructure and social spaces. His work explores the relationship between climate, community, memory, and territory through projects developed in northern Chile.

He is co-author of the books Las Parroquias de Concepción (2014) and Iglesias de Concepción: Riqueza social en el corazón de los barrios (2017), publications focused on religious heritage and urban social identity. The first of these publications was incorporated into the collection of the Biblioteca Apostólica Vaticana.

His research interests include architectural heritage, environmental perception, adaptive reuse in healthcare infrastructure, and the emerging relationship between architecture, behavior, and wellbeing.
