I was born in Mostar in 1975 where I finished primary and secondary school. In 1993 I left Mostar and went far away from home. However, I always kept in mind that I will be back one day. Knowing that the war destroyed everything, I realized at one point, perhaps the best and most useful thing would be to study architecture.
And it was like that. I started university in Morocco where I lived for three years. I still remember those years and I believe they helped me build my personality and what I am today. I studied French and Arabic language and I finished my first year of architecture in Rabat. When war in Bosnia ended, I returned to Mostar and went to Sarajevo to continue my studies in architecture. I have unforgettable memories from post-war Sarajevo. By the end of my studies I received a scholarship to do my final year of studies in Denmark at Horsens Polytechnic.
When I sum up all those years of studying, even though at a very hectic time for my city and my country, they were full of happiness, laughter and youthful energy. Or maybe it has nothing to do with age, maybe it’s up to me, since I still have that spark and energy that drives me and I’m moving on. I might build small towers but I am building them. And I’m happy. I have a family and three children and I managed to get my PhD in architecture. Although IDEAA is not my first project of this type, I still have the highest hopes in it. The most important thing in our lives is people and this team is a winning combination. It is a combination of experience and youth, a combination of traditional and contemporary approach which I see as a ticket for success. We are the simple people who want to make an effort and give a part of ourselves for the community and for its progress.
