Polis University was established in 2005 as an answer to the need for higher education and research in the field of Architecture, Urban Planning and Urban Management in the country. The legitimacy of Polis goes back in 1995 with the establishment and values of Co-PLAN, Institute for Habitat Development.
Polis delivers two 5-year integrated university studies, in Architecture and in Urban Planning. In fact Polis University is the only university in the country that has urban planning as a standalone faculty with its corresponding diploma. The degrees we award are equivalent to Bachelor’s plus first Master’s. Polis works according to the Bologna System for quality in education.
Polis University is member of AESOP, Association of European Schools of Planning, and is recognized by UNESCO universities database. Polis is also recently associated with AEEA Association of European Education on Architecture, and ENHR European Network of Housing Research. Polis has international cooperation established, with Faculties of Architecture, at University of Darmstadt Germany, and the University of Studies Trieste Italy. Additionally, Polis establishes exchange relations with IHS-Rotterdam, and Universities of Bari and Pisa Italy, Athens Greece, and Bilgi Istanbul.
Polis University has established the “Urban Forum” which is an open platform to present and discuss ongoing research studies or policy discussions relevant to Albanian context.
