Emily McGee (McGowan), Assoc. AIA, LEED GA, is a healthcare designer advocating for more significant public health outcomes and sustainability in the built environment. As an Associate Medical Planner in HOK’s Washington D.C. studio, she delivers impactful design solutions that promote wellness and equitable access to quality care for medically underserved populations across the U.S. and globally. Since 2017, Emily has designed over 1 million square feet of healthcare space. Her projects shape care delivery by providing patient-focused spaces that improve patient outcomes, enhance user experiences, and create healthier communities.

Emily recently received the 2022 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Associates Award, recognizing her outstanding leadership, creativity, and significant contributions to her community and the architecture profession. She was also named a 2022 American Bloomberg Health Initiatives Fellow, completing her Master of Public Health (MPH) degree part-time at Johns Hopkins University, focusing on environmental justice.
