Babak Abdolghafari was born in 1989 in Talesh, near the Caspian Sea where he was inspired by its wonders in his aesthetic art journey.
Babak started his professional career in 2009 by teaming up with numerous award-winning architects in Tehran. That same year he also collaborated with well-known architects of metropolitan Tehran, including internationally acclaimed designer Bahram Shirdel. In 2015 he ended his collaboration with Bahram and continued to work on his architecture practice and art studio, Studio Babak Abdolghafari.

During his professional career, he has also taught several academic courses in different institutes and universities. Starting in 2012, he held two concurrent positions as a workshop instructor at the Tumo Center For Creative Technologies and Building Information Modeling (BIM), and tutorial courses at the National University of Architecture And Construction of Armenia (NUACA). He also collaborated with Los Angeles-based architect and associate of Frank Gehry & Partners, Narineh Mirzaeian, as an assistant for the workshop Exploratory Form.
Recently Babak's work has been selected as a top shortlisted project for the competition Regathering Syria, Aleppo.
