Julie Snow, FAIA and Matt Kreilich AIA, CID, LEED AP co-lead the studio-based practice, Snow Kreilich Architects in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in 1995 as Julie Snow Architects, the studio has produced a diverse scale of work, from significant architectural commissions to product design, with a common exploration of material and detail. They approach each design as an opportunity to demonstrate architecture’s ability to reveal unique qualities of the physical and cultural settings of the projects. Further, in addition to solving complex and pragmatic needs of a client’s program, they explore the transformative power of design to enhance our everyday experience. Their designs join the aspirational and the pragmatic, connecting usefulness with beauty.
The studio’s work has received significant, consistent, design recognition, winning over fifty design awards. The work has been published in periodicals and books both nationally and abroad. Under Julie and Matt’s leadership, the studio’s collaborative working model, the quality of the work, and its impact on the profession was recognized with the 2018 Architecture Firm Award—the AIA’s highest distinction granted to an architecture firm annually. Both Julie and Matt are recognized as public architects, guiding projects that enhance the public realm, representing our communities’ highest aspirations and giving freely of their time to elevate architecture through teaching, serving on design juries, and giving addresses at both architectural conferences and universities. Julie and Matt both review Federal projects through GSA’s Design Excellence program and Embassy Designs through the Department of State’s Overseas Building Office’s industry advisory panels.
