Horacio Fernández del Castillo opened his architectural firm {FERNÁNDEZ DEL CASTILLO, ARQUITECTOS} in 1991. Since then it has designed and supervised the construction of a wide range of projects for Spanish authorities and private institutions. During this 17-year period the firm has handled all kinds of projects, including the restoration of monuments and the reform of historic buildings such as museums, art galleries, theatres, offices, cultural centres, etc, as well as working in housing and estate development.

Service-sector architecture and sustainable housing are some of the firm’s current priorities. It recently added such projects to its activities and competition entries. The internationalisation of the office is shown nowadays through the participation in competitions in Great Britain, Italy, Dubai and Morocco.

The firm has won prizes on various occasions and it gives preference to remodelling cultural facilities and reforming historic urban areas. In particular it specialises in museums and theatres associated with monumental or cultural buildings. Today its activity is projected towards the future with the committeemen of the team to reach new goals of quality and service capacity towards the society.
