Thanasis Polyzoidis is an architect (NTUA Athens) and a landscape architect (MLA Master in Landscape Design UPC ETSAB). He works as a freelancer but has also collaborated with firms of architecture/landscape design both in Barcelona and in Athens, where he has taken part in various architectural, urban and landscape projects at all design scales (private properties, urban regenerations, public space, natural landscape) in Spain, Greece and the Middle East. He has been granted awards and distinctions in architectural – landscape design competitions and his work has been presented in publicationsand exhibitions in Greece and abroad. The main objective of his work is the holistic approach of the design of space within the framework of ecological - bioclimatic design, the sustainability, the landscape ecology, the integration of the project in the landscape with respect to the unique qualities of its location (genius loci), and the socio-cultural conditions of place. Among his special interests are the design solutions that emphasize a close connection to nature and its processes, the natural vegetation dynamics and the biodiversity, the conceiving of building and landscape as a unique entity and the ambition to design places where people will feel involved and will take the responsibility for their maintenance.
