Muhammad Ali TIRMIZI, an architect, environmentalist and multimedia artist, obtained education from National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan; Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Bandung, Indonesia; University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan; Ketholieke University, Leuven, Belgium; Architectural Association School of Architecture, London, UK; and Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, Pakistan. Employed as Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture, National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan is heading the team which is developing the NCA’s first M-Arch Program in “Sustainable Design” under “Joint Higher Education Links Program” (JHELP) sponsored by Higher Education Commission and British Council Pakistan in collaboration with Edgehill University, Lancashire. Also headed the team which developed Master’s Program in “Multimedia Arts” in Collaboration with Ecole Superieure D’Art; Aix-en-Provonce, France in 2001. Taught at the School of HPCS, University of North London; UK 1996-1997. Written over 20 research papers and articles in local and international conferences and archival journals, and edited three books on Architecture & Planning. Delivered lectures and presentations in over 15 countries, and contributed widely to international publications. Recent research and consultancy place emphasis on urban area conservation, design studio teaching practices, architectural pedagogy, sustainable design , learning environments, strategic planning & pre-design, and devising project delivery processes for sustainable building design. At present the co-editor of the Global Built Environt Review (gber) an international refereed quarterly e-journal (alongwith a print version) for architecture, planning, development and the environment. Also writing an Architectural Travelogue “Visiting The World Heritage Sites” and is the Joint-Editor of editted volume “Sustainable Building Design” papers presented at NCA-EHU Joint Seminar at SBD08 Liverpool, UK. Both envisaged to be published in 2009.
