Situated on a bustling arterial road in Jaipur, within a neighborhood defined by aging commercial buildings, this office development emerges as the first new architectural intervention in the area. The project establishes a strong contemporary identity while remaining deeply responsive to its climatic and cultural context. Conceived as a climate-sensitive workplace, the building carefully balances modern expression with principles rooted in regional architectural traditions.
The planning strategy positions services and the circulation core along the southern edge to buffer heat gain and enhance environmental performance. By locating structural columns along the perimeter, the design achieves flexible, column-free floor plates that allow varied office configurations over time. Smaller office units are organized on the lower levels for accessibility, while larger workspaces are placed on the upper floors to maximize openness, daylight, and spatial efficiency.
In response to the dense urban surroundings, the side façades are enveloped in perforated screens inspired by Rajasthan’s traditional stone jaali. Fabricated from lightweight foam concrete composed largely of recycled materials, these screens provide thermal insulation while filtering harsh sunlight. This layered façade reduces heat gain, improves comfort, and strengthens the building’s environmental performance. The result is an energy-efficient, contextually rooted office building that reinterprets local heritage through a refined contemporary lens
