This project was a chance to reuse and recycle an existing 1970`s form. 100 Ipswich Road, Woolloongabba—a former high security, ‘bunker-style’ cheque processing facility for Westpac bank— was transformed into efficient, modern and sustainable head office space for a dynamic and innovative company. The development vision was to revitalise the existing building with modern design elements and attractive greenery and transform its interior into four stories of commercial space that was innovative and distinctive from generic office spaces.
The development aimed to showcase contemporary design and construction, offer a comfortable, relaxing oasis, modern work spaces and reflect the Queensland lifestyle and architecture, whilst maintaining the landmark building’s identity.
A goal of the client was to evolve from the previous premises and create a building with a depth of time and not `strip and renew to modern`, they sought a design that would encapsulate their company culture of: refined complexity; solidity ;permanence and longevity; with a sense of quality over time; the result is a building with a sense of permanence and integration from inside to out.
