The project aims to break up the traditional way of understanding and organizing space in the art world.
The duality implied in the project worked as the basis for a synergetic effect throughout the design, from the overall concept to the internal organisation of the 500m3 cube itself.
The guidelines for the cube and the Chinese context in general have given inspiration to the idea of super density and vertical organisation as main design parameters. The spatial programs are melted together, allowing one continues space to flow through the entire unit. This open space facilitates the artists working space, the public area and the circulation in general. Only the private spaces are enclosed to
create secluded areas for the artists. The cubes can be multiplied in all directions. This makes it possible for the circulation space to connect from one unit to the other, creating a network of public space running through the massive in all directions. The combination of more units makes
it possible for the artists to work in the joined spaces and thereby create communities between different artists and art directions.
