Bioclimatic reconstruction of IKL Factory in Belgrade, Serbia

The IKL factory is situated in the very centre of the city. The design started from the imperative of conserving a large number of existing factory facilities and changing their character into the eco-film industry. The street front toward Dalmatinska Street was substituted with the new, continual building. Old facilities were reconstructed, and new ones were built in accordance with principles of ecological and bioclimatic architecture. This makes the former factory facilities independent and from ecological viewpoint completely invisible. They generate energy themselves through greenery, solar panels, windmills etc. The aim of this project is turning to the nature – a step toward an eco-city and drawing attention to the current climate changes – raising awareness through information, education and public participation.
