This is a conceptual design of the proposed extension for surgical & OB wards of Dr. Jose Rizal Memorial Hospital in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines.
The Hospital Construction is being pursued to support one of the Department of Healths strategic approaches to improve the delivery of basic, essential, as well as specialized health services through the rationalization and critical upgrading of health facilities.
The Hospital Upgrading Projects of Dr. Jose Rizal Memorial Hospital (DJRMH) will achieve the following major objectives:
1.To upgrade DJRMH to meet the standards for fire safety and protection;
2.To develop DJRMH to meet the ever changing and increasing demands of quality health care delivery; and
3.To upgrade DJRMH to fulfill its role as end-referral hospital especially for maternal and child health care.
The intention of the design is to integrate the concept of passive cooling for common spaces, maximize spaces, utilization of day-lighting and barrier free for the person with disability and patients. Sun shades were included in the design to minimize direct sun exposure so that we can increase fenestration to allow the concept of passive cooling. Rain water harvesting is also integrated to minimize water fees of the hospital.
