The project is located at the university of Jordan campus, it will represent the new Shari’a Faculty in the university, while the old building spaces will serve as supporting functions for the new one; connected with two bridges. The footprint of the site is L shape with approximately area 3500 sqm. The program structural component is complex occupied 17 000 sqm; two underground stories parking with services, and 5 upper floors including the ground floor.
The building takes L shape as the site shape is, but at the end, the mass was dis-junction and oriented to the Qibla, this mass contains more functions that are related to Islamic studies, ex: praying hall, library, Ahadeeth,…Etc. While the nose of L shape is serves as auditorium with two floors, and above it an outdoor theatre.
The new building is sensitive to the surrounding context; the old building and the users. The project is slightly lay on average slope with 1:10, this give the design powerful image with its long façade. Also the pedestrian south link penetrates the building at ground level, with a plaza to serve as gathering area. The Islamic pattern faces south to the view of forest, makes the façade to work as a natural shell which its shadow dropped inside the building spaces during using hours. This reflected an extraordinary sense of spiritual and interpretation feel for the users. While the clustering of spaces inside, and their relation to the outdoor creates wisdom of exploration. Moreover, the central atrium works as ecological system, rattle around main circulation cores and halls.
