This 32,000sf building is donated to the Municipality of Chortiatis by the Philoptochos Society of Men in Thessaloniki, Greece. It is able to accommodate 180 children of four age groups. Based on the activities of each group, the designers structured six building program scenarios over a 24h time period. The spatial organization is structured upon the conceptual idea of a marsupium. The overall form of the structure reveals a flowing, interconnected care-learning-fun process.

2010

The design was based on the following axes:
- transformable envelope elements and interior partitions that better facilitate the changing spatial needs in time,
- fundamental sustainability principles,
- learning through fun spatial organization,
- multiple stimuli to challenge a child’s cognition and boost experience.
