Rooftops are overwhelmingly under-used and a communal space of interaction is always welcomed within a residential seating. In this case, the rooftop selected was a typical one in the city, which only has TV aerials and staircase access for maintenance purposes. The concept was to provide a covered area for conversation, and exposed areas for sunbathing, table tennis and a children’s play area with a sand pit. The recycled wood floor and covering define the gathering area while the concrete texture mark secluded space such as sunbathing and children’s play areas.
