Music Reserved - Jazz Centre on the Tromøy Island in Norway

Norway is currently the best flagship for the preservation of nature. Norwegians have learned to live in harmony with nature and protect it from over-exploitation. We can see everywhere the beauty of nature, even in the smallest corners of Norway. Unique architecture is inspired by nature, rooted in history, based mainly on local and natural materials. Norwegian architecture harmonizes perfectly with the surroundings. I tried to create the same harmony in my project - harmony between architecture and nature.
The idea for the project was born from a combination of artistic disciplines like architecture and music and also from my biggest inspiration - nature. Architecture, Music and Nature - they are the three most important elements of this project. As a location I chose a place of infinite space, filled only with music of nature and wildlife - Tromøy Island in Norway.
It is located in the southern region of the country - Aust-Agder, in the municipality of Arendal. The seashore of the Island is shaped like a sculpture. We can find sandy beaches there as well as rocky cliffs formed from silver rocks. A pine forest of twisted trees which is typical for this Island extends over its entire surface.
Looking at the island from the air, we see that it is clearly divided into two parts, the first - urbanized and the second - wild and natural. The first - colorful and lively, the second - devised by nature, where the only sign indicating the presence of humans are paths winding among the trees. The contrast of these two parts of the island has inspired me to using architecture to introduce an element of communication between them, which will emphasize the uniqueness of the Tromøy area. The island has an unusual topography. The architecture here should adjust to it; simple, geometric forms would be completely in contradiction with the DNA of the Island and would be in total opposition to the lightness and feeling of jazz, which is the theme of this project. The variable terrain of the island and improvisation elements jazz songs became my biggest inspiration in the creation of this project. I tried to create a space completely filled with music. This project is not only Jazz Center, it is Music Reserve.
