Urban Waters - Reestablishing human relationship with water

Water has always been the point from where the human settlement flourished throughout history from small communities to our great cities of today all have thrived on water and created a cycle around it today. Fresh water is a finite resource that is rapidly becoming scarce, Rapid urbanization and water pollution are putting enormous pressure on the quantity and quality of surface and ground water and we have lost the quality of life and space around this great resource

This thesis aims to create a society which will Flourish the ecology of the society, creating a new association with the water with harvesting water through all possible ways to use it as a city’s water supportive system while strengthening the thread in between the water and people.

Urban Waters is spectacular as it is subtle and it addresses and serves the surrounding simultaneously celebrating the value of water to the surrounding communities. It becomes interactive as well as social gathering spaces for daily as well as cultural activities around the water. It Seamlessly weaves in the spiritual with the routine activities. The diverse characteristics of water are contained and shaped through the spatial entities which are contemporary interpretation of traditional water systems like cisterns, Kunds, Wells, Ponds, Ghats.

Water here is used to enhance the metaphysical experience of it within the daily life of the people thus carving different journeys using Architecture as a medium. Which directly connects the threads of association of a human being with water and traditional systems and thus completing the cycle of interdependency i.e. Human, Ecology (using architecture as a catalyst)

project includes two typologies together that is housing and experiential water storage spaces.
built up area is 6500sq.m. Primary structure is made up of Stone boulders, Stone and Reinforced cement concrete.
