Reconstruction of the Destroyed Palestinian villages (عودة الطنطورة)

A project to return to Palestinian villages proposed by the Palestinian Authority headed by Salman Abu Sitta for the reconstruction of Palestinian villages that were destroyed in 1948. This competition was used as a blueprint for the implementation of the Palestinian right of return under international law.

The contest aims to obtain the best design in an annual contest for the reconstruction of Palestinian villages that were destroyed in 1948. The Israeli ethnic cleansing of Palestine in 1948 led to the evacuation of 675 towns and villages, most of them. Four students from each university in Jordan and Palestine are selected from 150 villages. Each student chooses a village, collects data and information about it, and proposes a design for it.
I chose Tantura village from the villages of Haifa. The area of 14,600 dunums was only 5 square kilometers. It is a coastal village with many features. The novelist Radwa Ashour wrote her novel in this village.
