“ARCITECTURE AS A PROVOCATION ” (studio theme)

With the theme proposed ‘Architecture as a Provocation’, the students are expected to discuss the search of architecture that
can be provocative, innovative, seminal,remarkable, striking and thus a starting point of the transformation the city Izmir.
Course of actions prepared by legal authorities determine the future of the cities. They sometimes stem from the dynamics of
the city which are already progressing or productsof brand-new dynamics. Sometimes, change occurs as a result of mixed voices.


DESCRIPTION OF CONCEPT

The back of Alsancak Port district is a region which has important areas for Izmir in its time. But, day by day
the region is abandoned and want to be used for capital.

Everywhere in the world , the decisions and space occupations which for sake of capital , are increasing nowadays and continue
to restricts human’s right and freedoms.. Recently, in response to this situation , people became conscious and began to resist
the capitals for their rights and freedoms.

However, as long as these resistance movements remain superficial , areas which human has a say on , will
continue to be occupied for the sake of capital.That’s why , to counteract the capital , permanent reactions
are required instead of superficial reactions. For the permanent reactions, a counter occupation against the capital
can be created.
