The society constructs a set of values, expressing its idea of acceptable behavior. The unacceptable is that which transgresses this moral code, that which needs to be criticized. Religion, particularly Islam is cited as a major stumbling block for women’s advancement. The Dargah is a power structure for repression of women’s autonomy, their aspirations, their roles in the family, in the society, or economically and politically, as well as logics of Power and processes of alienation.
Women have been passive observers in the setup of the Dargah and cannot actively take part in its working; are not allowed to be a part of Dargah committee which takes political decisions, are not permitted in the madarsa to educate themselves nor are encouraged to setup commercial shops. Thus, providing a platform which uplifts the status of women in the society, challenges their collective mindsets.
