Home for the Aged is designed for a Non-profit organization who are purely dedicated towards providing world class care and comfort for elderly people from different parts of our country. The original institution was built in 1958 (finished in 1962) which has been having almost 300 residents for so long, but with time the existing structure has been showing massive signs of wear and tear with Mumbai monsoons and construction quality of the time. Repetitive repairs and maintenance had created nuisance for the residents and for the care givers, so it was decide to demolish the old structure and develop a better organised facility as like any professionally designed healthcare institutions. Our architectural design firm has always believed in projects like these which has a larger effect on lives of people who need it the most. So, when we were offered to work upon this Project in 2016 we started our design with a simple principal to make the best use of such vast piece of land within Mumbai city limits and designed a central courtyard / garden of around 0.5 Acres. This garden is surrounded by the rooms of all the residents who are stationed from the Ground floor till third floor level. Each and every residents room overlooks at this garden as it has a balcony attached to it to provide for an external view. The overall design of this 1,70,000 sq.ft. institution is divided into four main sections which are; the chapel, the residential part, the dining space and the utility areas supporting the overall infrastructure. The construction of the project started in March 2018 and is targeted to be complete by May 2020.
