We choose the houses that we live in after we answer many questions: Can we afford it? How does it look like? Is the location suitable? How long are we going to occupy it? What kind of life are we going to live inside it? A family’s? A young urban professional’s? A student’s? A migrant’s? The needs, lifestyles and priorities of people make a house more than a shelter, and the complexities of people’s lives influence the environments that they live in. This condition reflects on architecture in several ways which adds to the variety of architectural solutions around us regarding housing.
Homes are usually attributed a sense of permanence, especially when we are still part of a family, in places that we think we are going to live our whole lives. However our life stories rarely bind us to a single house, a single neighborhood, city or even a single country. No matter how long we occupy them, we attribute a sense of home to spaces that we inhabit. - Direct Cut from Courses Project Topic
Aim of the studio was create a building which benefits transient lives such asbusinessmans, teachers , doctor or even refugees. In this specific field of view user is thinked as a part of the house, a unremovable one. So when user changes the house changes too. While those changes often close to the outside Ever-Chancing House(ECH) aims to alter its shape, color , pattern whenever a user changes. So users will infuluence the enviroment with their being. There two parts of thinking about ECH for usual use and for refugees use.
Usual use of the house is one with its marketing stategy. Which have scenario like this. Let assume that you are transient living person for whatever reasons business, travel etc. And you dont know how long you will stay in specific location. ECH allow you to rent minimum of one and maximum tree of its grids spaces. Later via internet you choose a variation of spaces which will generated through an algorithm and offer you. Before your arrivel using cranes on top of the circulation towers your blocks will be ready for your living.
In terms of refugees use,we can assume that this kind of greed structure is built various places. When refugee buys or donated a container block, he can put his home various places through his journey to safety or these homes can be transfered other places. So dwelling standarts can be met for refugees.
