With a lobby ceiling height of 40 ft, Crowne Plaza will be one of the tallest buildings in Asia's second largest sub city, Rohini, New Delhi.
The good life will soon have a new address. Gearing up for its launch in the second quarter of this year, Crowne Plaza in Rohini, New Delhi, is the perfect place for leisure travel. An upscale hotel brand of the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), which has the largest number of hotel rooms across the globe, Crowne Plaza is located in Asia's second largest sub city, Rohini. The project will comprise twin towers sharing a common basement. A 15-storeyed tower will be a hotel and the second tower, a 10-storeyed office-cum-shopping complex. Crowne Plaza will be the first upscale hotel in northwest Delhi and possibly, the area's preferred destination to meet and celebrate.
AT A GLANCE
“The project started in April 2008, and we aim to begin operations in the second quarter of this year,” says TusharAranake, Chief Engineer, Crowne Plaza, Rohini, New Delhi. As he shares with us, Crowne Plaza will house one of the largest banquet facilities, 183 guest rooms, three F&B outlets and a luxurious spa. It will also have one of the city's largest mechanical multilevel parking areas attached with high-end offices. Moreover, Crowne Plaza will be one of the tallest buildings in this part of the city, with a lobby ceiling height of 40 ft.
The principle architects involved in the project are RK Associates and GP Mathur Associates. According to Aranake, “The architects of this project were briefed on demarcations of use by offices, commercial and five-star hotels, thus maintaining their privacy.” World-renowned interior design company, PIA Engineering & Associates, from Bangkok is architect consultant for this project. “They have introduced one of the finest products and services on offer,” adds Aranake.
Three types of cladding materials have being used in the structure; double-glazed glass cladding in the guest room, and aluminium composite panel and Gwalior stone cladding overall. “Double-glazed glass cladding reduces heat transfer, thereby reducing energy consumption; while the aluminium composite panels and stone cladding reduce maintenance costs and are easy to maintain,” reveals Aranake.
GREEN FEATURES
Crowne Plaza is considered a green project with facilities including dual flush WCs, 100 per cent water recycling through in-built plants, VRV-based chillers using environment-friendly gas, double-glazed façade for energy saving, maximum use of natural light, rainwater harvesting and use of low power consumption lights like LEDs.
A special feature of this project is the use of solar power to heat water. Large solar panels have been installed on the
terrace that utilise natural light to heat the water flowing through the panels. Significantly, the terrace surface is not exposed to the sun's rays, thereby reducing the AC load on the top floor.

The rooms offer modern facilities, a 24-hour business centre and in-room dining, among other features. Guests can also avail other facilities such as the spa, a well-equipped modern gym and an outdoor swimming pool. There will be space reserved for corporate offices in the nearby business tower as also a shopping mall for leisure.
One of the highlights of the hotel is the sprawling commercial complex that has several upmarket brands on display. The hotel is located adjacent to Adventure Island, an immensely popular amusement-cum-shopping arcade.
