Through my shop design, I am portraying the essence of a nation where people are poor. As we are approaching winter in Pakistan, we have already begun facing the second wave of the Novel Coronavirus. The Pakistani Government has adopted ‘No mask no service’ policy. New rules or the new normal should be mandatory in the open air markets called, ‘bazar’. These markets are indispensable trading venues for local people and have a cultural significance. Apart from this, these open air markets are a source of livelihood for many street vendors who are at high risk of contracting the deadly disease. Since these street vendors have very low wages, it is very difficult for them to afford treatment. Through art and design, I am trying to portray the necessary steps that need to be taken to prevent theseneedy people from catching the disease. As it is seen there is no roof abovetheir heads and they often suffer from heat stroke (during summers). Most ofthese people have very little or no education and so I thought of conveying a precautionmessage without using much text in design.I have created a compact andorganized version of the same space with ample storage and new rules for the same place.Proper use of vertical space to allow more goods and a little space for them torest. The fixed glass is for visual connection with neighboring vendors withoutcontacting physically. At first the customers will sanitize their hands beforeaccepting goods from vendor or paying money for goods. Each shop has UV scannerfor disinfecting goods. Distance of 2 meters is maintained between eachcustomer. The phrase ‘no mask noservice’ indicates that customer will have to wear a mask at all times.
