Architects role is not just to create fancy building, but also building society intelligently. Unitecture proposed to have an Energy Arts Centre in the heart of Pune, an education and IT hub of Asia.
Energy Art Centre is an artistic form of sculpture, machine and installations which produce energy. The globe will require such intellectual installation to promote such art.
The energy art center is a fusion of Indian traditional step well and modern plazas structured out of five elements as tribute to natural energy. The space is partially below the ground with single storeyed on the other side. It's like an amphitheater with display facilities on both sides. The Cement boxes placed in between showcase art. There is a multipurpose space across to promote the activities. The sky seen at the entrance takes you down to the lower level represents soul. The transition space represents earth. A static water body is placed at the other end of the center. The wind mill and Fire installations at the entrance area depict the natural elements.
The semi open submerged structure is proposed as a hangout space for youth from surrounding offices and institutes. This will promote an energy art and in turn lead to a sustainable lifestyle. The workshop space will host various talks, workshops and lectures regarding the energy art.
The material palette used for the project is very minimalistic to represent the purity of the project. The lower portion used as gathering and display area are made natural stone and exposed concrete, whereas viewing deck and bridge are made in glass.
Unitecture in collaboration with Jumbish, an art foundation approached Pune Smart City Authority with this concept. The authority has sanctioned the space and Jumbish is collecting the funds for the project.
