The lack of an efficient cultural center is motivated the Municipality of Selcuk to establish a multi-use urban structure that houses all kinds of social activities including annual rituals of Sufi Semah. The concept of the building is a contemporary reinterpretation of a kulliyyah open to all citizens, a 365-day open meeting center for social, cultural and even personal purposes. Under a gigantic roof, separate boxes housing various functions and performance capacities unite through their lobbies that link to each other flexibly and interactively.

The functions of the building include a 2200-seat concert/ congress hall, 800-seat theatre, 1000 person capacity ball-room, pocket cinemas, workshops, smaller meeting and VIP rooms, café and restaurant. The building will be
in service for scheduled performances, exhibitions as well as continuous education atelier programs, or even for wedding parties. To avoid direct sunlight and to enliven the façade with reference to its Seljuk heritage, an external skin is created around the community centre.

The stylized geometric motives of metal application are derived from original Anatolian Seljuk forms and nomad culture. Aesthetically pleasing and resistant to climatic influences; light diffusing through the embroidery of the mesh generate a playful light and shadow atmosphere at the interiors. Welcoming attitude of the building is enhanced with the large screen above the main entrance piazza that raises the interest of passerbys. The zone around the Center shall transforms into a cultural-art- activity social spot by integrating with the environs.
