Riverfront,Surat

The site for this residential development fronts a large river on the northern side and an arterial city road on the southern side. The client’s requirements were to create 4 and 5 bedroom apartments.
All the apartments are designed to open out towards the river view large balcony spaces and terraces overlooking the river.
The apartments are angled to capture the different views of the river.
Open spaces between each apartment create a wind tunnel effect capturing the prevalent south- west breeze throughout the year and thereby increasing cross ventilation.
The southern side which faces the harsh summer sun when temperatures vary between 40 ° & 50° are screened with vertical wooden fins to reduce the heat gain to the interior spaces.
The staircases placed on this side is created with solar panels to generate energy for the building, thus harnessing energy from natural resources.
The Riverfront is a residential development that capitalizes on its surroundings in terms of planning & is responsive to the climate by the orientation of its site creating large apartments that feel like individual homes.
