The Citrus Company was founded in 2008. The motive was to revive and project the history of the cultivation, harvest and commerce of the citrus fruits at Chios. It is an initiative which objects to connect the past with the present and future of citrus at Campos in a dynamic way.
Designing the Citrus shop in the centre of Chios town was a great challenge as the main goal was to bring the smells of Campos into the small area of 70 sm

2010

An old and abandoned place had to be renovated. Materials, colours, furniture should cooperate in reviving Campos and make the visitor have a unique experience while visiting the place.
Stone columns are renovated, walls are painted in the traditional blue colour of Chios architecture, the new industrial floor creates a very light ground which let all the traditional forms breathe and exist through a new sense.
All furniture is designed according to traditional forms and the owners’ demands. The colour of furniture is a unique patina, made by local carpenter based on the architects’ guidance.
The shop window is decorated with a model representing the old practices, tools, methods of production related to the oranges, tangerines etc.
For the interior decoration many old stuff is used in order to create a gallery of ‘Citrus Memories’.
The kitchen is in open view so visitor has the sense that he takes part in every step of the production of candies or coffee served.
