Wooden chunk house

The site of the building is situated in the far outskirts of Warsaw in an old pine wood, which adds a very special charater to it. Therefore, the main design task was to integrate the new house into the existing circumstances while maintaining as much of the existing natural environment as possible. The building is located in approximately 1/3 of the length of the site, which gives the buffer of privacy for the inhabitants and at the same time creates a generous back garden. The pathway and car access are bent in order to enforce the impression of the buildings recession from the street and to minimize the amount of tree cuts. The form of the house is meant to be simple with many glazed openings towards the back garden. The plan has been formed in a way that also enabled to save the most valuable trees on the plot. The buildings skin is made up of the chunks obtained from the cut trees A natural color palette and texture of the facades causes the house to visually blend with the forest. The character of their interiors is mainly created by the surrounding forest as well, which is present through wide glazings. That way an impression that the greenery builds the walls of the building, is created. The main floor is dedicated to the living zone consisting of a two-story-high living room, a kitchen situated in the southern glazed wing and two guest rooms. On the first floor, the master bedroom, childrens rooms, bathrooms and a study are located. The basement is dedicated to the garage and technical rooms, as well as a sauna, a small gym and a spacious lounge, situated below the living room. The lounge has a wide glazing which faces a sunk patio, which acts as an extension of the room.
