row was invited by wal-mart to participate in a competition for the redesign of the facades of their superama store located in the tecamachalco suburb in mexico city. facing new competition and after years of being neglected the exterior of the store needed a complete renewal.

our proposal is a repetitive pattern of flowers made of large ceramic tiles in 7 different colors that wraps the building in all its visible facades. the ceramic tiles are a low cost solution with an extremely good durability and low maintenance. the mosaic formed by the tiles is colorful and visually attractive. this would give visibility to the building from the surrounding streets and make a statement of complete renewal of the store.

an access to an underground mall is also d replacing an existing structure. the rooftop of the new access folds from the end of the building on to the main entrance of the supermarket. the ceiling is made of translucent orange panels while the facades are made of curved clear glass with the logo of superama printed on them. the new access also s a better perspective from the street, taking advantage of the new access plaza we included in our proposal.
