We were asked to design a worship space serving any religion of our choice. We as a team chose to react to the prevailing chaos in the world. We believe that its high time that we rise above religious divides and provide SECULAR SACRED SPACES to our community.
We chose to devote a temple to nature and its mighty powers. For conceptual form development we observed various stages, in the process when a drop of water falls on the surface, and came out with a form that depicts the transformation of energy during a splash.
Respecting the free flowing forms in nature we used tensile materials to explore the form through a 1:50 scale model and after trying and rejecting a lot of options we came up with the following result.
I would also like to acknowledge the enormous support from Bhairabi and Alok, who are my fellow students. Without them this could never have finished in 3 days.
