The City Council, Denver decided to shift the Childrens` Hospital to the Fitzzomon`s site. The task included redesigning and site planning on urban scale for the Childrens` Hospital site along with detailed project designs for restoration and adaptive reuse of Tammen Hall, a 19th century art-deco multi-storeyed building that housed the nurses` quarters as a 170 room heritage hotel. Each stage, from conceptual to final plans, was approved by the city, the neighborhood committees, and the residents. The work has been compiled in the form of a book and project execution will begin in 2005.
