The main object of the project is the development of a building where public space and build environment coexist and form a unity. The users must feel free to participate in the action and plan their own path in the complex. A network of courses, links and hubs is created. The build environment follows the course of a unique gesture that goes through the whole of the plot. As far as it concerns the open space is developed on a ribbon that runs through the site diagonally which gradually lowers from the street level. This two systems cross around the middle of the site where their characters are reversed. The open space is elevated while the built recedes. Two separate units are distinguished, a “line – building” and a “bridge – building”. The “line – building”, which accommodates the teaching areas, is defined by an oblique concrete wall, upon which are suspended the volumes that receive the programmatic uses, while from the other side of the wall, a glass hall determines its elevation towards the surrounding buildings. The second unit, which is the library, is positioned towards Mouschounti square and it comprises of 3 floors, only one of which rises above the street level. Structurally, it consists of 2 surfaces in ? formation which surround the basic functional units. The access from Mouschounti square is made possible through a small bridge which runs through the building and leads above the small theatre, where through the oblique surface of the its roof descends towards the big open area. This passage bridges the gap between the building and the road. This gap allows for the public space to develop, leaving a wide pavement. The public spaces are a main open area next to Ag. Dimitriou street, a lowered path that runs through the site, a large elevated open area and a number of smaller open spaces in between.
