As always, the inventive spirit of the Dutch design community is a formidable presence at the International Furniture Fair, which opened yesterday in New York. I met with Hella Jongerius, a Dutch designer known for finding a felicitous balance of craft and contemporary, at Moss, the SoHo design store, and asked her about the pyramidal tulip vase she created for Royal Tichelaar Makkum, one of the oldest companies in the Netherlands.
