CARRIAGEWORKS IN ASSOCIATION WITH SYDNEY FESTIVAL PRESENTS

9 January–23 March 2014

Christian Boltanski is acknowledged worldwide as one of the most influential artists of his generation. As the ‘poet advocate for the dispossessed’, Boltanski is known for his highly personal body of work exploring memory, loss, birth and death. The presentation ofChance at Carriageworks, marks the first time a major work by Boltanski has been presented in Australia. Responding to the architecture and scale of Carriageworks this immense and complex installation allows you to witness lives unfold, following the rhythm of births and deaths across the globe. Boltanski invites you to explore the idea that all human life is the result of chance.
