Kenneth Frampton wins Lisbon Triennale Millennium BCP Lifetime Achievement Award.

Thejury'saward,composedby Beatrice Galilee, Gonçalo Byrne, William Wisnik,Juhani Pallasmaa, Mónica Gili,Taro Igarashi and William Menking, decided toaward the prize to the architect, critic and professor Kenneth Frampton.

Born in the United Kingdom in 1930, he was trained as an architect at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. Over the course of his career, he has written countless books and essays on architecture. He is currently the Ware Professor of Architecture at the GSAPP, Columbia University in New York.

The award ceremony will take place at Belém Cultural Centre during the first fortnight of January, on a date to be announced shortly, and will include a lecture by the winner.

The Lisbon Triennale Millennium BCP Lifetime Achievement Award recognises a person or practice whose work and ideas have been influential and continue to have a profound effect on architectural thinking and practice today.

Signalling the commitment of both the Triennale and the Millennium BCP Foundation to rewarding excellence throughout a period of significant active design practice, the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Italian architect Vittorio Gregotti in 2007 and the second was bestowed upon Portuguese master Álvaro Siza Vieira in 2010.
