Japan Architecture News - May 31, 2008 - 15:55   9196 views

"Kengo Kuma used modified umbrellas, which have zippers along theirouter edges are zipped together to create this modular shelter. Eachumbrella has two extra `flap`s that hang from its central segments toallow for different compositions . The zippers are cut slightly longerthan the umbrella`s edges so that the excess material can be tiedtogether to seal joints. The inside of the structure leaves theumbrella mechanisms exposed."
