EAHN 2014 Third International Meeting | Turin | Italy | June 19-21 2014

After the successful European Architectural History Network Second International Meeting in Brussels, the network is organizing a Third Pan-European Meeting in Turin, Italy, on June 19-21, 2014
In accordance with the EAHN mission statement, this meeting again proposes to increase the visibility of the discipline, to foster transnational, interdisciplinary and multicultural approaches to the study of the built environment, and to facilitate the exchange of research results in the field.
The Turin Conference is the result of a call for session/round table proposals and two calls for papers and discussion positions. The call for sessions/round tables resulted in 100 proposals of which 27 were selected. These 27 proposals made up the first call for papers that yielded more than 500 abstracts. Thanks to this exceptional response, three open sessions were activated. In addition: a second call for discussion positions, expressively dedicated to PhD recent researches from Italian Universities, resulted in 37 proposals of which 19 were chosen.

As a result, the EAHN Turin Meeting will consist of 172 papers/discussion positions arranged in 32 parallel sessions/round tables, involving 187 speakers and 52 respondents.
The five slots of six/seven parallel sessions/round tables have been loosely organized in six thematic threads: ‘Early Modern’, ‘Representation and Communication’, ‘Questions of Methodology’, ‘Theoretical and Critical Issues’, ‘Twentieth Century’, ‘Circulation of Architectural Culture and Practices’.

As to the Meeting’s international resonance: EAHN will have participants from 37 different countries. Among these, the most represented one is the USA (46 participants affiliated to American universities). Italy comes in second (41) followed by UK (16) and, at a distance, by Australia, France, Portugal, Belgium, Ireland, Poland, Israel, Slovenia, Switzerland, Croatia, The Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Brazil, Chile, Greece, Serbia, Canada, Estonia, Norway, Spain, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, Argentina, Austria, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, Mexico and Singapore.
