Join the Architects’ Journal for the free inaugural AJ Specification Live conference featuring speakers from Zaha Hadid, Wilkinson Eyre and Stanton Williams

The event, which is sponsored by EQUITONE from Marley Eternit and DuPont SentryGlas, complements the monthly theme of this months AJ Specification magazine, exploring the design of external cladding and curtain walling.

Saffet Kaya Bekiroglu, associate of Zaha Hadid Architects, will discuss the panel system used for the firm’s Heydar Aliyev Center while Stephen Hadley and Larissa Johnston, associate and project architect at Stanton Williams, will explore the specification of granite cladding.

Also speaking will be: Giles Martin, director, Wilkinson Eyre, who will discuss glass specification; Paul Rogers, project director at Robin Partington & Partners; and Damian Rogan of facade and structural engineer Eckersley O’Callaghan.

The free event will take place at 4pm on 27 March at New London Architecture, with talks followed by drinks at 6pm.

Speakers

Giles Martin, Wilkinson Eyre Architects will discuss the glass specification of the practice’s 10 Brock Street development which uses 80 different types of glass. He will also talk about the way Wilkinson Eyre adapted to changes in the  Building Regulations during the course of the project, which began in 2003.  

Saffet Kaya Bekiroglu, Zaha Hadid Architects will talk about the cladding details of the recently completed Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku.  

Larissa Johnston and Stephen Hadley, Stanton Williams will be speaking about the cladding of the ventilation shafts at Kings Cross, Stanton Williams will discuss the granite cladding’s design, setting and fabrication.

Matti Lampila, Piercy & Company will discuss the cladding used on the practice’s 1 Baker’s Row housing development in Clerkenwell. 

James O’Callaghan, Eckersley O’Callaghan Speaking about his approaches to specification, and will discuss how they push the limits when using large flat and curved glass panels.

Paul Rogers, Robin Partington & Partners will share how the practice used Bentley’s Generative Components parametric software to develop the bent-glass cladding system for the Park House development on Oxford Street.

Gianfranco Apicella, Marley Eternit Gianfranco Apicella will be joining architect Matti Lampila of Piercy & Company to discuss Marley Eternit’s role on the 1 Baker’s Row housing development.
