established in 1999, the vincent scully prize recognizes exemplary practice, scholarship, or criticism in architecture, historic preservation, and urban design. the national building museum in washington, d.c will present its elh vincent scully prize to architect and professor christopher alexander, on thursday, november 5, 2009 at 6:30 pm at the national building museum. alexander is being recognized for his seminal books such as a pattern language and the nature of order an essay on the art of building and the nature of the universe as well as his efforts toward inspiring students to be more thoughtful design practitioneers.
