Brise soleil system and clay counter add warmth and depth to dental clinic in Latvia

Riga-based interior design firm NŌR design studio has created a calm and serene interior space for a dentail clinic in Cēsis, Latvia.
Named Dens Dental Clinic, the space breaks away the conventional idea of sterile, cold dental offices.
The clinic, created by Nora Gavare of NŌR Design, offers a cozy and inviting setting that transforms the patient experience. Sculptural geometries with clay counters are contrasted by rigid forms featuring an internal brise soleil system.
The interior design, which draws inspiration from Gauja National Park, features an earthy color scheme and emphasizes the use of terracotta and clay, materials that have a long history in the area.
This relationship with the land strengthens the ties to the surrounding environment, fostering a natural and calming ambiance that supports the clinic's mission to support each patient's confidence and well-being.
Ceramic tiles by WOW Design are essential to this project because of their rich textures and three-dimensional shapes, which add to its distinctive character.
WOW's signature collection, ICON, has been used to create spatial divisions that produce a dynamic interplay of light and shadow in addition to defining areas.
Inspired by structural concrete features, Summumstudio created the modular ICON line of three-dimensional ceramic pieces. Infinite geometric patterns are possible with this brise soleil or lattice structure, giving the area both aesthetic and practical significance.
ICON is used as a partition element in Dens Dental Clinic, offering privacy without sacrificing the design's flow. Its design creates a more comfortable and sustainable atmosphere by controlling light, enhancing ventilation, and naturally regulating temperature.
"I am drawn to finishes that reflect a handcrafted aesthetic, with textures that add depth and authenticity," said Nora Gavare.
"I always gravitate toward materials that stay true to their origins—natural stone must be real, not printed, and clay tiles must be made from real clay."
"What I love about WOW Design ceramics is their ability to capture this raw, tactile beauty, especially through their handcrafted aesthetic and subtle imperfections, which add depth and character," explained the designer.
"In this project, the ICON 3D clay modules become a defining feature of the space, evoking the delicacy of lace and creating a stunning interplay of light and shadow."
"I played with contrasts, combining monochromatic tiles in the bathroom with 3D clay pieces that resemble delicate lace, allowing light to filter through the ICON blocks and create a dynamic interaction of texture and shadow," added the Latvian designer.
The Stripes collection by WOW Design adds texture and depth to the bathroom with its linear relief. In keeping with the overall design concept, its monochromatic finish accentuates its three-dimensional aspect while light highlights its minimalist look.
Dens is more than simply a clinic; it's a haven where luxury finishes, creative design, and light and materials combine to create a spa-like ambiance that enhances first-rate medical care.
